Just you name and period on top of the page.

Answer all of the following  questions using the information learned both in class and in the text to support your answers.  Try to think critically, use your imagination and if you get confused, take a break and try again.  Do not be afraid to ask me for help.  Good Luck!!!

Question 1

The year is 2199 and Machines have taken over the planet (yes, just like the Matrix).  The Machines want to harness the electrical power from the human brain to run themselves.  They keep inserting wires into the synapse trying to draw out the electrical energy but have been unable to do so.  You have been hired as a consultant to fix this problem (for payment you will be inserted into the Matrix as Jennifer Garner).  Tell them why their plan is faulted and explain to them how to fix the problem by mapping out the process of Action Potential.

Question 2

Pretend that you have the ability to manipulate your neurotransmitters to the levels that you would like them to be (by just wishing them so, not by using drugs!!!).  Give me your schedule for the next three days and tell me when you would  increase and decrease the production of all four neurotransmitters to deal with your everyday life.  For example, during football practice you may increase endorphin production so you would not feel the pain of the hard hitting or during a boring class you may increase serotonin so you would be happier and perhaps more attentive.

Question 3

Think about your favorite hobby or activity that you really enjoy (playing basketball, talking on the phone, jogging, etc…).  No matter what activity you do, it typically involves various brain structures working together.  You are going to develop a map describing how various parts of the brain enable you to thrive in your activity.  Identify two Hindbrain structures, two Forebrain structures and two areas of the Cerebral Cortex and how they are involved in your activity.
