  5. Describe the assumptions and goals of cognitive therapies and their applications to the treatment of depression.

  6. Discuss the rationale and benefits of group therapy, including family therapy.

  7. Discuss the findings regarding the effectiveness of psychotherapies.

  8. Explain why ineffective therapies often have mistakenly perceived value.

  9. Discuss the roles of values and cultures in the therapy process.

  10. Explain the rationale of preventative mental health programs

  11. Identify the common forms of drug therapy.

  12. Describe the use of electroconvulsive therapy and psychosurgery in the treatment of psychological disorders.
